Last October I wrote a post titled "A Michigan Economy for Everyone," pointing out that in Michigan, we enjoy strong unions, a heavy-handed government, high taxation, obscene property taxes, huge welfare programs ... and all the makings of a Democratic Utopia ... yet, we're still sinking faster than the Titanic.

Back in 2006, Greg Kaza, writing for the National Review Online said (emphasis added):

How bad is Michigan's labor market? Michigan is the only state to record a contraction in nonfarm payroll employment for five consecutive years. The state's labor market is headed for its sixth straight annual decline in 2006. This unprecedented contraction is centered in the private manufacturing sector, which peaked in July 1999. Total Michigan nonfarm employment peaked in June 2000. Employment in some of Michigan's metropolitan statistical areas peaked earlier - including Flint, which peaked in 1997.

And 3 years later ... things are significantly worse.

If you think the economic policies of the Left work, then ask yourself why they haven't worked here in Michigan?  We're at a point now, where we're experiencing a growing mass exodus of people who want to live anywhere but Michigan!

The Consequences of Socialism

Michigan is a state run by the Democrats. It is a state that is run by union thugs. It is a state run by leftists who firmly believe in the power of the government.

If the Democrats had their way the whole nation would be run like Michigan, it is state where the left has the unfettered ability to govern as they please.

The results speak for themselves. Michigan leads the nation in unemployment, low GDP growth for decades and mass, unprecedented migration out of the state.

Michigan's exodus is one of the state's best known but least understood problems. Long ignored or downplayed, outmigration has been shrugged off partly because it was assumed that those who were leaving were unemployed blue-collar workers and retirees, groups that, in economic terms, don't cripple the state with their departure.

But a Detroit News analysis of U.S. Census Bureau and Internal Revenue Service data reveals that every day, Michigan gets less populated, less educated, and poorer because of outmigration.

The sad part is ... if we keep chasing people away, especially the young, we're setting ourselves up in a downward spiral that we may never recover from.  The Left-wing socialist propaganda may offer many shiny promises, but the reality of it is ... it's driving people away.  And without people?

It's time for Michiganders to say NO to government, and YES to "we the people" before it's too late!
