Now that former Detroit Piston Dave Bing has been elected as mayor of Detroit, one would assume Ken Cockrel Jr., who was handling the job, would go back to his former role as president of the City Council. Assuming that person cared more about the image of the city than his or her own selfish desires.

That brings us to Monica Conyers, who was holding down the president's job while Cockrel was in the mayor's chair. Conyers has indicated Cockrel's return to his old job is not set in stone and she may be fighting it.

Great. Just what Detroit needs, another embarrassing incident created for no reason by the inept leadership that has made the City Council into Clown School. If Conyers decides to fight Cockrel's return, Detroit will be the biggest loser.

I can see why Conyers would want to remain Council President. After all, she believes she did a good job. She must be the only one. Well, maybe a few of her deluded followers think she did a good job. And, probably her husband Congressman John Conyers. But what does he know? Even after ACORN has been faced with multiple charges of voter fraud, he doesn't think there needs to be an investigation into the group.

If Conyers, Monica that is, decides to try to hold onto the presidency, every person in Detroit needs to speak out against her.

Let's see what she accomplished when she was put in charge: She killed a $280 million deal that would have saved Cobo. She bullied white people at meetings. She shouted down any opposition she faced. She constantly embarrassed the city. She implied Councilperson Sheila Cockrel was messing around with a married man.

Let's look at the good things: Umm...uh...there was...let's see....I'm sure there was something.

Anyway, there is no way Conyers should remain Council President. She shouldn't even remain on the Council. Hopefully, the voters will take care of that in the next election.

I sincerely hope Conyers doesn't fight Cockrel's return. Another political battle would only hurt the city.

Until next time, enjoy Michigan.
