It's Day 3 of my five-day list of things - personal and Michigan-related - I am thankful for.
Personal
Books. I love to read. Sometimes, I get lazy and flip on the television instead of cracking a book but I can't argue good read is superior to watching TV. It's become cliché but books can take you places TV or movies can not.
I love reading Star Trek novels, historical fiction, mysteries, action adventures, Bible commentaries, and the Bible. I count Steve Hamilton, Kenn Follett, Peter David, and Jonathan Kellerman among my favorite fiction authors. When it comes to Bible commentary, I like to read John MacArthur, RC Sproul, and Warren Wiersbe.
I am thankful for books and the authors who come up some many great stories.
Michigan
Detroit. Yes, I gripe about how Detroit has become rundown and the leadership has been very ineffective, but I love the city. Detroit was once one of the most prominent cities in the world. Detroit was once a hub of culture in the world.
Despite all of its shortcomings, Detroit still has much to offer. The Science Center is fun, Ford Field and Comerica Park are fine places to watch sporting events, Hart Plaza hosts many great events, the downtown are has many great restaurants and clubs, and there are some cool museums.
Detroit has much to offer and I am thankful for it all.
