MSNBC warned us and we wouldn't listen. They said the hundreds of thousands of people attending the Tea Parties around the country would be extremists, nut jobs and wackos - and they were right.
I attended the one in Lansing and you should have heard the hateful, mean-spirited, and extremist words those nut jobs were saying. Let's see, there were chants of "USA! USA!" How awful!
Then, the speakers were asking our elected officials to control their spending. How mean!
I even saw people holding signs that showed displeasure with the high tax rates. How extreme!
I hope you read the above with the appropriate amount of sarcasm.
Despite the left wing media either ignoring the nation-wide Tea Parties or calling the people attending the parties lunatics, thousands assembled peacefully at the Capitol and made their voices heard. Although, Gov. Jennifer Granholm probably didn't hear a thing. She wasn't there. I guess she was hiding under her desk or out costing the state more jobs.
The protest opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and the crowd got extremely loud at the "under God" part. Talk about violating separation of church and state. (More sarcasm).
Then, the crowd prayed. Oh, the horror. Those radical religious nuts pushing their God on the rest of the world!
The prayer was followed by the singing of the National Anthem. Talk about anti-American!
The rest of the hour was filled with speakers asking our leaders to show some fiscal responsibility. What a bunch of jerks.
The crowd was very enthusiastic. There was no fighting or screaming. It was a great day.
Of course, once I got home and checked the news I barely saw any coverage, except on FOX News. MSNBC was taking the usual shots at the wackos at the Tea Parties and CNN had a real gem. I didn't catch the reporter's name or in which city she was, but she asked a man why he was at the Tea Party. He started his answer by talking about liberty and she cut him off and yelled at him. She asked him what liberty had to do with taxes. Then, proceeded to defend President Barack Obama by saying something about a $600 tax break. That is horrible journalism.
Here is a little lesson for CNN. A journalist asks a question and allows the person to respond. No matter what the answer is, the reporter doesn't argue. He or she records the answer for the report. Also, you don't go defending people. You see, many news agencies may have forgotten this rule, but journalists are supposed to be objective and not so biased.
A commentator or columnist can add opinion, but reporters do not have that luxury. For example, MSNBC's Chris Matthews is allowed to show his man love for Obama because he is a commentator.
So what did this day actually accomplish?
I'm not sure it will change much unless we take this displeasure to the ballot box. I seriously doubt the leadership in this country - Republicans and Democrats - will take these Tea Parties seriously. Congress had a lower approval rating than George Bush and nearly every one of them up for re-election last fall is still in office.
We'll see what happens but if the same old group of Big Government politicians are still in office after the next election, then the Tea Parties were meaningless - unless Washington stops over-spending and bludgeoning us with taxes. HAHAHAHAHA!!!! I'm sorry I couldn't write that with a straight face.
The next few months and years are critical. No matter who is in charge, they need to stop this madness of spend, spend, spend. And yes, Bush is just as much to blame as Obama. This is not about political parties or individuals, it's about doing what is right for this country.
We need to get our leaders to listen. If the Tea Parties don't do it, then we need to make our voices heard at the ballot box.
If that makes me an extreme wacko, nut job, idiot, moron, stooge or whatever else MSNC and Company wants to call me, that's fine. There is some scary stuff going on in this country and it could cause our economy to crumble.
Until next time, enjoy Michigan. And start voicing your opinions.

I would have loved to see Granholm show some courage and show up. But, she would have needed to assemble a blue ribbon committee to make a decision for her. Then, run it past another committee before dumping the decision on her advisers. All of whom, make six-figure salaries paid by us.
She is so inept.
