If the politicians in Lansing and other clueless people have their way, we'll soon be paying more to register our cars and more in taxes at the gas pump

According to a Detroit Free Press report, registrations would double and is supported by the Michigan Chamber of Commerce and guess who else? Gov. Jennifer Granholm. It's hard to believe she is in favor of gouging Michiganders for more money while she continues to lead the state economy down the crapper, but it's true.

The Free Press report said the coalition of the Chamber, Granholm and others in support state the raise in registration fees would create $1.8 billion by 2010 for roads repairs.

Chamber President Rich Studley told the Free Press,  better roads and mass transit will bring business to the state. "This is really about job creation and promoting business conditions that are favorable to Michigan."

Sounds good but I rarely trust anyone who is looking to take more money from me. Especially from someone who is in agreement with Granholm, who has done nothing to create jobs, spent money with no concern for the budget and has shown no leadership ability.

Here's is a way to improve our roads: Cut wasteful spending (like the governor's salary) and balance the budget. Also, bringing new jobs to the state would increase tax revenue so we might have enough money to fix the roads without adding more financial burden to people already at the brink.

Which brings me to my second complaint: A higher gas tax. Our great governor, who seems to think we all have money growing out of our rear ends, is in favor of dropping the state's flat 19 cents a gallon tax to a percentage tax which will basically have us paying double or more in taxes at the gas pump.

How this woman was ever re-elected is beyond my understanding. As I previously griped, the good people of Michigan are starving for jobs because Granholm's time as governor has been a colossal failure. We do not have the money to keep feeding Granholm's spending machine.

Every idea that comes from Lansing to improve the state require stealing more money from the people to fund these projects. Some projects may be worthwhile but we can't afford to pay for those because of all the tax dollars Granholm is responsible for flushing down the toilet.

If this new gas tax and registration fee increase goes through, I suggest no one vote for any politician that was in favor of these thefts. OK, Theft may be the wrong word, but what should I call it when the government keeps taxing people who can't afford it? A travesty? Sinful? Horrible? Lousy leadership? Stupidity? All of those fit, so take your pick.

We can't let our leaders to continue to burden us with more and more taxes. We need to fire the dolts who think we can afford more spending when we don't have jobs.

I would like nicer roads, but the money has to come from somewhere else. The people are tapped out.

Until next time, enjoy Michigan! Also, watch your wallets or Granholm and Company will take every cent you have left.
