My life on the internet is a lot like my life in the real world ... people seem to think I'm controversial. I'm not. I just accept the world for what it is, not what it should be. Take the Detroit Lions for example ...
The NFL is great! I enjoy pro-football. Yes, the Detroit Lions are an NFL pro-football team. But, so what?
Understand, the NFL is a business, and the teams are businesses within that business. They're a business just like Wal-Mart is a business, and I sure don't go around hearing people claim Wal-Mart as one of their own. Do you?
I get it with Ford Motor Company, because so many people worked for them, it's sorta their company too. But the Detroit Lions? C'mon ... If they're "our" team, then where's "our" check? Where's "our" input on the decisions? Where's "our" anything?
Well, they do have something of ours - our money! Our crooked government taxed us into oblivion, in part, to help these multi-billion dollar sports businesses (like the Detroit Lions) build new stadiums, so they could make even more money off us! Talk about a screw-job ... so don't go telling me it's "our" team.
It's Bill Ford's, Lansing's, and the Detroit City Council's team. And we all know how "representative" of us they are ...
Matt Millen is gone. Whoopity-doo ... all they did was hire his protege. Yeah, nothing spells success like hiring the guy who was trained by the worst GM in the history of sports!
Calvin Johnson, Matt Stafford, Kevin Smith ... I wish them nothing but the best! But let's face it, the Lions have always had top-notch (or supposed top-notch) talent since the day I was born. And guess what? They lose and lose and lose.
The Lions start their season tomorrow at New Orleans. In other words, you are free to go about your business between 1:00 and 4:30pm. You won't miss a thing. I'll even get my crystal ball out for ya ... 34-17 New Orleans.
The bottom-line is this ... The Detroit Lions are a business, and a lousy one at that! You wouldn't shop at Wal-Mart if they sold only expensive products that sucked. So, why would you shop with the Lions?
Pick one of the other 31 teams, and enjoy your season instead!
