This past weekend left me a lot busier than usual, so I didn't get a chance to work on the week's Rule 5 post. So, without further ado ... it's Rule 5 Tuesday, with Michigan's own, Kristen Bell!
Kristen Anne Bell, born on July 18, 1980, in Huntington Woods, Michigan, is a famous actress who is best known for her role on the CW network's Veronica Mars (2004-2007). Currently, she plays the role of Elle Bishop, on NBC's Heroes.
The daughter of Tom and Lorelei Bell, who divorced when she was only 2-years old, Kristen has two step-sisters, Sara and Jody. As a kid, Kristen didn't like her name very much, and decided to change it to "Smurfette." Her mom eventually talked her out of it, but Kristen used her middle name, Annie, up until high school.
Kristen graduated from high school at Royal Oak Shrine Catholic, after which she moved to New 
York, attending New York University (NYU)'s prestigious Tisch School of the Arts, majoring in musical theater.
In her first audition in 1992, she won a dual role as a banana and a tree in a suburban Detroit theater's production of Raggedy Ann and Andy. By age 13, her mother had established a relationship with an agent, thus allowing Kristen to appear in newspaper ads for local retailers and TV commercials too. In 2001, Bell decided to leave NYU a few credits shy of graduation, to star in a short-lived Broadway production of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer as Becky Thatcher. Kristen also got her first film credit in 2001, in the cult-classic Pootie Tang. Her line ended up getting cut from the movie, but she's still listed in the film credits.
In 2003, Bell landed the role that made her a household name, as teen super-detective Veronica Mars! The CW (originally UPN) television show received a lot of critical acclaim and 
developed a strong cult following, but still never gained enough viewership to keep it going.
Veronica Mars lasted only 3 seasons, and left Bell remaining a relatively unknown in the land of Hollywood. In 2007, she was rumored to be in negotiations for a role on the NBC series Lost, but then she was cast in the role of Elle Bishop on the hit show Heroes. Kristen played the part of the narrator on CW's Gossip Girl the same year too, as well as the role of Zoe, a funny and way-out-of-their-league hot chick (who just happens to be a Star Wars nerd too), in the movie Fanboys (2007). Then in 2008, she had her biggest success yet - playing the title role in the hit movie, Forgetting Sarah Silverman!
Kristen Bell's up-coming movies include, Serious Moonlight (2009); When in Rome (2009); Sheepish (2009); and the animated Astro Boy (2009).
Other Interesting Tid-Bits about Kristen Bell include:
- Has a lazy-eye she calls the "Wonky."
- She named her other eye, "Night Owl."
- Loves to eat at In n' Out Burger, even though she's a vegetarian.
- Was voted the sexiest woman in 2006 by PETA.
- She's a big Detroit Red Wings fan!
- In 2005, she made Jane magazine's Top 11 "Women you'd most like to see naked."
- Also in 2005, Kristen came in at #68 in Maxim's Top 100; again at #68 in 2006; #11 in 2007; #55 in 2008; how she didn't make 2009' list is beyond logical comprehension.
- Claims to be a serial monogamist.
- Has a dog named Mr. Shakes.
