I always wondered why the Political Correctness Police were so against Christmas as a religious holiday. I knew America became so sensitive that many people were looking to be offended at every turn, but why was it Christmas was taking the hit?

Nobody was getting angry when Jewish people and Muslims celebrated their religious holidays. I know our Christian heritage made Christian holidays and traditions more prominent than other religious celebrations, but there is a venom towards anything regarding Jesus - especially when it comes to Christmas.

From a purely religious standpoint, Easter is more important to Christians than Christmas because Easter celebrates Jesus' sacrifice on the cross for our sins so we can be cleansed and enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

But because the word "Easter" doesn't remind anyone of Jesus, the anger is more subdued. Also, Christmas has taken over the country as the biggest holiday of the year. It is so big, the United States and most of its activities revolve around getting prepared for the celebration.

And the word Christmas has "Christ" in it to remind people there is someone they will be accountable to some day.

The people against Christ being in Christmas are those who are not in spiritual connection with Jesus - their Creator. Jesus said people will hate him and his followers. Darkness fears the Light.

So when people hear "Merry Christmas", they get upset because they know deep down they have turned their back on God. They feel guilty. However, instead of embracing Jesus, they lash out at Him.

It's just human nature.

While it bothers me people try to take Christ out of Christmas, I understand their motivation: Fear of being held accountable to God; the guilt of ignoring the Creator; and embracing the ideas man establishes moral absolutes and not God.

By keeping Christ out of Christmas, they can keep Christ out of their lives.

Until next time, enjoy Michigan and Merry Christmas!
